Only Takes One Strike

rusted tin so thin
petrol permeates throughout
no one lights a match

no gag reflexs
pour petrolium till they're full
and then retire

who invited this guy?

with all these bullets
what's a guy like me to do
with an adeladle ?

random or cohesive ?

one key does not
fit into every lock known
what's with the iron ?

or

locks, glass door knobs
old timey iron door stop
what about the twine ?

so it started in the middle

i worked last night and felt that after a long week working with kids.  teenagers no less i wanted the night to end, and i NEEDED a drink.  preferably an adult beverage.  luckily my friends @2galsevents were throwing a 3rd year anniversary party for Kari @studiovino in southern Tempe.  i got there @ like 9pm.  the place had a band performing 80's songs on the front patio area and there were no shortage of dancers dancing.  ladies leaping, swingers swinging. wineauxs wining and people of all shapes and sizes having a blast.  mind you this place is not huge, it is however in a great spot, and run by the some of the best staff.  girls working hard, to pour wine, to keep smiling, and make everyone happy.  not easy, but you wouldn't know it from checkin out these girls, in top form last night.  that was a fun crowd and most of us there were just going with it.  be it dancing , the wine, the company we kept, i stayed till 11:30 and i know it went till @ least 1am.  so good for Kari and great for the shop.  100 people can't be wrong about the joy this little place brings, to all who visit.  thanks Kari. Thanks Missy and Amy Rose

i'm not sure which one i like best..

well if i'm honest i like em both tho not quite equally.  so here goes, for your comments and opinions...  i now have 2 Wu Tang Clan names....  one is from a long time ago and i like it for obvious reason.  it's "Chocolatey Shatner" .... i know RIGHT? how kewl is that?  anyway i watched @donaldglover the other week on @jimmyfallon and he was promoting his upcoming tour as @childishgambino and i thought that was a great  name... seems to fit and you could make the Wu Tang name generator much more of a thing to do....   ultimately to be use as a pseudonym, or celebrities can use em as their alias while checking into hotels and what not.  now as i mentioned this Shatner alias for me is an older one and i'm sure there are a bunch of name generators to joining this particular clan.  so i tried another one the other night.  and i liked the new one too it's "B-loved Wizard" and standing next to the might Shatner in my eyes, B-loved Wizard was just "meh".  i looked @ another name generator site and was reunited with the Shatner suggestion.  it seems like that is the one i would have to go with.  i mean over the years since i did it the 1st time and now, it's still the same and i have used it in conversation before.  so now if i were to be talking to those same people and if their memories were not filled with holes, they might be confused by my new moniker.  that being said i think i've made my choice.... tho i might always wonder what it would have been like to be a B-loved Wizard....
i will in fact remain loyal to the tag of "HI, MY NAME IS CHOCOLATEY SHATNER"

prob not always a good idea

even after i had breakfast this morning.  a breakfast of a slice pizza @ costco mind you.  i was getting ready to head to work, and thought i should actually eat more so i was not hungry throughout the day.  what's wrong with me?  granted it's now been like 3.5 hours and i just started work and have no other food here so it may still have been a good idea to front load the work day with food, and ride it out.  but i'm actually glad i didn't make a sandwich or eat a bowl of cereal or something like that.  just grabbed a bottle of water and got in the damn car!  i can manage here.  there may be some sort of seminar this evening @ work, and i'm expected to go home early as it it.  gotta get my mind off of food, so what to i DO? i blog this entry about being hungry.  hmmm
Do's and Don'ts of Fat indeed.

tonight i saw source code

source code starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan is a trippy little pg-13 rated sci-fi, love story, who done it head trip, lasting all of just over 90 minutes.  even @ that length it was a little overcooked.  the premise is unique enough in that it's a story of an army grunt helicopter pilot who wakes up suddenly to find himself on a train in the chicago area with a woman who is talking to him but he has no idea who she is.  so he tries to find some answers and then she is a little freaked out by his freakish behaviour and just as she tries to calm him down the train blows em all to bits.  cut to jakes character waking in some sort of space pod as far as we know, where he is even more confused and is now being talked to by some voice (GOD) or other.  turns out to be a female captain played by Vera Farmiga (in a thankless role) who is @ some research facility and is monitoring Jakes' plight into the "source code."  this code is a program that takes the last 8 minutes of a human life and due to some memory imprints that "linger"  after we die allows another compatible being to enter this time overlap from when we die to the 8 minutes we leave imprints for. i guess.  anyway he is consistently sent back to the events that lead up to the explosion on the train in an effort to figure out who the bomber is, and where the bomb is. he must do this and stop him/her before they are able to carry out what has been uncovered as a planned dirty bomb exposition in downtown chicago after the train incident... same day mind you.  so back and forth he goes.  each time figuring more clues and making more mistakes along the way.  fitting this puzzle together must have been tricky, though Gyllenhaal does a convincing job in this role, i liked him., it was simple and to the point as far as performances go.  i also, really liked the morally ambiguous Geoffrey Wright, who is usually brilliant and understated,  and under used in Hollywood if i may say.  his character is the supervisor @ this research facility.  he is too smart for his own good, crippled in more than one way in his awkward delivery, and unfeeling personality, which presents a nice counterbalance to Vera Farmigas role.  back to the movie.  Jake makes the right connections, we learn that his predicament is not as cut and dry as we first think, and the bomb threat is thwarted.  i liked it overall.... once we learn a few twisty details about Jakes character the movie could have ended for me, on what i felt was a real happy note.  and you know us americans, gotta have a happy ending to an otherwise average movie.

so overall i am ok with what i know

i think over the years, (and there have been many) that i have picked up on several things.  some are nuanced and some are blatantly in my face.  i sometimes need that, as a man i don't always do, or get subtlety.  anyway i am new to blogging and just wanted to give a basic background into who i am and what i think i could bring to the blogasphere.
i am a jack of all trades, and truly a master of none.  but i like this, as i have taken up several jobs over the last 15 years or so and am still trying to figure out what suites me best.  i have worked mostly for utility companies on the phone as customer serve. sometimes bill collector, bill adjustor, wound healer, talker downer off ledge.  i have worked with children in before and after school programs.  one year for Kid Zone in Tempe, az.  and now currently with Boys and Girls Club in Scottsdale, az.  a wide range of ages from kindergarten to high school aged children.  i am with the teens now and that's fun.  i have taken a job working for pitney bows in north phoenix.  6 months there looking up mail redirecting lost mail and delivering to different locations for american express in the north valley.  i also worked 18 months in IRAQ for KBR as a mail clerk.  see how one thing leads to another?  that was so interesting and such a good ol boy system of running things over there, all military and former military folks pushing non military people around.  it was hard work and long hours but overall i got what i needed to get out of it.
i travelled. spent 2 weeks in Egypt taking tours and meeting people.  this was in 08 so a while before the more recent unrest in that country.  glad i got to see it when i did.  i spent some time catching up with friends in both Brighton England... and my buddy Sam and his lovely Jen in Belgium.  many trips to Dubai as that's where we as a company flew in and out of during travels to Baghdad.  i also spent 2 weeks split between Thailand and Cambodia .... awesome! and might have been my favourite foreign travel destination.
overall i wanna be able to share thoughts on a number of topics.  if i can manage to come up with my own thoughts that is.  and who knows a few quotes and some links to other more interesting things than me.  new to this blog idea. i am tweeting and you can follow me @shannon3k i am also on facebook i will be sure to check in here and share things i'm doing for those who might be interested.

till then
